Default Do creases in a y-pipe hurt your performance bad?

When I put my hooker headers on, I am having a custom y-pipe made. The bad thing is it wont be mandrel bent though. The guy at the exhaust shop said it will probably have some creases in some spots. Any idea if this will hurt the performance?

Use one size bigger tubing and there will be practically no performance lose.

Actually I'm going to use 2.5" pipe. Will that hurt me, or should I do as the colonel said and have him use 3"? I'm just concerned about clearance with the 3" pipe.

Lol! Did the same set-up you are attempting. My exhaust guy did the bends with a 2.5" and turned out great. The "crush" areas were minimal and believe me they are much better than the stock system. Do use the Random Tech bullet cats for an awesome sound( btw, I do have the Loudmouth). Have your guy make flanges to connect to the headers and weld all connections including to the cats. The merge to the 3" collector at the LM, have him cut the two 2.5" pipes to form a y-shape and weld the seams and connection to the collector. I did consider the 3" y-pipe as mentioned and glad I did not because I do scrape occasionally on the driver's side with the 2.5" set-up. OBTW, this mod with the hooker headers will give you the most bang for the buck....especially torque and response. Good Luck! Randy <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Don't sweat it. Most muffler shops wont have mandrel bending ability anyway.

After going back and forth with putting and taking cats off I am in the same boat.. I have a crinkle in my 2.5" Mac Y-pipe.. I am thinking about buying another y-pipe or just upgrading to better headers and y-pipe if it is worth it..
