422s, emissions, and cams
Are there any 422 owners out there that have had to pass emissions? What were you running for a cam?
I have to ask because I have been warned that the "R1" cam might have trouble with emissions (it's a 232/237 114 LSA .560 max lift).

An MTI 422, R1 cam'd Vette passed Colorado emissions very well. There was definately room for a larger cam, according to the results. We only do idle and 2500rpm steady state tests here.

That's good to hear, that is the current test here in the Houston area.
BTW, I got my car inspected today before it goes in for major surgery tomorrow. Hydrocarbons were 17 at 800 RPM idle and 0 at 2500 RPM. Impressively clean for such a high-performance nearly stock engine.
I'm gonna go with the R1. I figure if I have emission problems I can either just swap out cams and/or find the "right" place to get tested.

Will do - but first I am gonna have to learn how to drive the thing before I take anyone else out along with me. Little things like not breaking the rear wheels loose at 70 MPH, not overdoing powersteering, and stuff like that . . .

Wow, that's awesome that the R1 will pass emissions! I never ran cats on my T/A w/ the R1 cam in the 383, but I do know the fumes were enough to choke a small village w/ the ORP. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">
Good luck w/ the 422, and let us know the badass #'s when it's done!
