Any banging problems with the SLP Y Pipe?
Hello everyone I'm new here. Been lurking for quite a while just now got around to registering.
Anyways, I am planning on getting some hooker shorties for my 99 Z and I'm thinking of getting the SLP stainless steel Y pipe to go with it.
My question is does this Y pipe bang against the floorboard? I've heard that this can happen on the Y pipe that comes with the SLP longtubes but I was told this one is a different design.
I'm going with shorties because I don't want to mess with 02 sims, they are cheaper, and I want to use my stock cats.
Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated!

If properly installed it shouldn’t. The LT Y-pipe won’t bang if you install it right either. We just fixed an SLP Y-pipe (the one that comes with the headers) on a friends car. The installer didn’t adjust it right and it was banging against the driveshaft tunnel where the I-pipe and Y-pipe meet. We adjusted it and the banging was gone.
I did not have a problem with my y-pipe. The only problems that i had was scraping on speed bumbs and making the y-pipe fit with the corsa 3 inch pipe. Other than that it sounds good. I am aslo thinking about shorties. I was thinking about JBA but they are about $500.00. Good luck with the install. <img src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" />
