Default is a swap to a .040 gasket thae same as a .015 mill?

because the stock gaskets are .056 right? so would this be similar bump in compression or no because of the contours of the cc chambers?

Its similar but not exact. every thou off the head reduces the chamber less than off the gasket because of the quench pad. For a stock LS1, every .0050 off the gasket = 1cc, every .0065 off the head = 1cc. Reducing the gasket tightens the quench which is good for power and knock prevention, however it brings the picton closer to hitting the head.

raises the compression comparable to a 64-65cc 10.50:1. tighter quench to help fight off detonation , win/win situation .

Looking fwd to see how my car responds to using .040 headgaskets. The current gm performance mls .056 failed.

id really like to run a .040 gasket but i dont think it will work with the prc 2.5 5.3's im looking at without flycutting. im just trying to figure out what to do. thanks for your replys
