Default Need Help

Hey people I have a 2002 5.3L Avalanche. Changed the oil at 1500, and at 4000 again, at the 4000 we switched to synthetic oil. At both oil changes the low oil light came. Now we are at the 6000 mile marker and the it is down 2 qts. What could be causing this, I have heard that on new motors synthetic may burn through quick. Should I go back to conventional oil or take it to the dealer and tell them to fix it. Thanks for you input, its appreciated.

I'd take it to the dealer and ask what they considere "excessive oil consumption." GM has a pretty loose definition. If your consumption is in the bad range, they won't fix it on the spot unless it is some minor fix. They will want to do an oil consumption test and monitor it for themselves over 500 - 1000 miles.
