Default Mac Headers banging steering column.

Has any one had this problem? The car is a 2000 SS with about 14000 miles on it. I was wandering if anyone has had this problem and what they did to remedy this. The car feels like it is torquing hard. But know it shoulnt do this. If you punch it you lose ALL steering control.
Thanks DG

Any chance your engine mounts or the headers themselves are loose? It's a real tight fit, but it shouldn't actually touch. did your headers get bent while you were installing them?

I have seen a few LS1 motors that are able to "torque" move furthor than others. We checked the motor mounts on one we thought for sure must have had broken ones, but they where in tact. I wonder if you have one of the vehicles that has just enough movement to allow this to happen.

I had the MACs on my 98 and they where close, but didn't hit.

I thought the motor mounts were broke also. I had them on my 98 no problems, but this car torques the motor so hard it was banging the exhast when it was basically stock.
Thanks DG

Mine does, but in reverse only. I can feel it in the steering wheel when I'm backing up... It's not bad though.

You can loosen the linkage for the steering and slide it up or down a little. This may help alleviate the problem. I had the same issue with mine rubbing on the turbo exhaust pipe. Loosened the linkage and slid it down. This will usually help if the knuckle on the steering linkage is where the contact is occuring.
