Bullet Muffler on Stock I pipe

Bullet Muffler on Stock I pipe I am looking to add one of the dynomax bullet style mufflers in my I pipe to quiet down the MAC's I just installed. So far I have only found 2 1/2" or 3" inlet/outlet. My pipe is still stock so it's 2 3/4.
Should a muffler shop be able to expand the stock piping a 1/4" without issue? Also will I screw things up flow wise going 2 3/4 to 3 back down to 2 3/4???

Re: Bullet Muffler on Stock I pipe Just get the 3", and your 2.75" will fit in there good, they can expand it a bit to get a tight fit. Not a problem as long as you weld it in. I assume you are talking about taking the stock mufler off & replacing it with pipe? You could do that. I estimate with that setup, you would pick up 7 Hp. If you just put a cutout on there, you would pick up about 10 Hp, and be alot better off $$ wise. JMO.

Re: Bullet Muffler on Stock I pipe actually the stock muffler has been gone for over 4 years now <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0"> I have a pair of supertrapps instead. But since adding the mac's, even though I do have cats, it's too loud, especially at 2000-2400 rpm. I want to put the bullet in to help quiet things down.

(12" X 3") with 3" pipe all the way back installed. I love it, Shop only charged $75 for bending and I picked up the bullet at MTI for $47. As far as loud goes, it doesnt bother me any. I can still carry on a conversation while driving.
