The other day i took off my "Trans Am" door emblems, but i TOTALLY forgot i once had to ahve my drivers side door repainted, and obviously noticed it once i took off the emblem(since it is the original paint under where the emblem was, etc.)
Can the body shop kinda wetsand it to look even?
If not, i need the GM part # for the adhesive/mounting tape for the "Trans Am" letters, the adhesive/mounting tape that was originally on there? ?
Thanx ALOT in advance!

I'm not sure if the body shop can fix it or not.
If they can't, I'd just buy new emblems. That's what I did when I had one of my doors painted. The new emblems come with the tape already applied, and the letters are already spaced out correctly. All you have to do is stick them on. I believe there's a different part number for each color.
The alternative is to just get some double sided body molding tape at your local car parts store. You'll spend lots of time trying to align all the letters just right though

Wait, when i took off the letters, they came off as individual letters, not one whole piece...
And, are u saying if i order them thru GM, they'll match my body color already?
Or will i have to get them painted.
When u bought the new ones, they were one big emblem, so u didn't have to line the letters up again?

take it to a reputable body shop. They can tell if it will "buff" out or not. If not they will have tape and can re-apply the emblem. It would be worth paying them to do as it will line up and stick better than if you use tape from a pars store.

When you order them through GM, you order them based on the color of your car. No painting
Also when you get new ones, they come stuck between two sheets. You remove the backing sheet so that you can apply them to the car, but the front sheet holds all the letters in place so that they are spaced correctly.
If I wanted to do an emblem color change (as many have done), I'd just order new GM emblems in the color I wanted, rather than putting sticker on the already existing ones.
