Default Anyone Cam a 2001 or 2002 Yet?

I've been looking and can't seem to find any 2001 or 2002 f-body's with cams installed and I was wondering kind of gains people were getting since they come from the factory with a tiny cam, no EGR and have an LS6 intake. Are they more prone to misfire codes because of stock computer tuning looking for a smaller cam?

I am planning on a relatively small 216/216 .537/.537 Comp grind to hopefully push me into the 11's and don't want to have to send my PCM off for tuning.

And experiences and cam choices would be greatly appreciated. I looked in the top 100 list on ls1.com and didn't find one 2001 or 2002 with a cam.

I went with a B1, but also had 3.42's installed at the same time, so programming was a must. I believe I gained about 30 HP being an A4.

Good Luck!

Cams shmams!!! Dude your flying with the few mods you listed! I think most (though not all) of us with cars this new are a little nervous about dinking around with the internals just yet. I bought my car with the specific intent of making it a drag car, period. But she`s just a little too new to go pulling her bump stick out just yet. And this is comming from a guy who brung home a brand new $10k motorcycle only to put on a $1k exhaust and $300 computer as if it wasn`t fast enough! So don`t get me wrong I love to mod as much as the next guy. But over the next few months knowing the boys around here (this site) the cam #`s in newer cars will begin to fly! Who knows, maybe I`ll be posting some. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

We just finished installing a MMS 224/224 @114LSA cam with Comp Cams 915 springs in my son's 2002 WS6, along with a TCI streetfighter 3000 rpm converter. We plan to replace the 3.23 with 3.42.
We are still trying to make it work with the stock PCM. So far we have drilled the throttle plate to 17/64" and turned the idle screw in about 3/4 turn, which still reads o degrees at idle. That gave us a stable idle of about 775 rpm.
The car runs great and sounds awsome even with stock exhaust. We did the converter first, which gave a BIG improvement in the low end, then added the cam which greatly improved mid and top power.
It is still giving misfire (as well as fuel tank pressure sensor) codes. We haven't had a chance to run down the reason for the fuel tank code yet, but want to get that accomplished before working on the misfire code.
Of course we could benefit greatly by a new version of LS1edit so we could raise rpm limit, ignore misfire codes, raise shift points etc. but I guess we have to wait for the new version to become available. More testing to follow.

By the way, HERE IS A LINK TO GM's WEBSITE DESCRIBING THE IMPROVEMENTS OF THE '01-'02 LS1.

I went with the TR224/224 .561/.561 112 LSA on my 2001. I havent dynoed it yet, maybe next month. It took me and my friend 13-14 hours
<img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">
But it was worth it! My friend has pretty much the same car as me but he has FLP headers and no nitrous, he dynoed 350rwhp and our cars ran the same but now I can put 2 1/2 cars on him. So I do notice A difference in power but I just need to raise my rev limiter and than I will feel it pull even harder.Yes I am having random misfire codes.

You should go with A bigger cam than that well thats what I would do. My car lobes hard!! I have no cats and the loudmouth,
sounds crazy <img src="graemlins/gr_jest.gif" border="0" alt="[jester]" />

We just put our 229 in a 2001 Camaro. It had all the bolt ons except for headers and 3.73 gears.

This thing made 345RWHP and about 350 TQ w/ out headers.

We then added our 229 cam, TTS LT minus cats into a Borla open. After computer tuning we made 420 RWHP and 389 RWTQ <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">

I don't know what's up with that car, but it ran strong when it was pretty stock.
At our local track (2700ft) He ran 13.60's @ 103 with a TB and maf (dyno'd around 320 RWHP). He just ran 12.71 @ 112.7 He still has a stock clutch which doesn't exactly shift firmly.

I think putting a cam in an A4 you will have to get custom tunning done.

Here is my dyno. I picked up 30rwhp from MTI's T1 cam.

Peace,
Craig.

You think I will need tunning with a relatively small 216/216 .537/.537 114LSA 110ICL. I'm thinking I can get away with just drilling the TB a little.

I'm only looking for a couple of tenths to put me in the 11's on motor. <img src="gr_grin.gif" border="0">

Mike Morgan-
So he made 420RWHP but only trapped at 112.7MPH?
Something don't seem right.I trap 2 MPH higher
than that making 80 less RWHP with stock gears
and stock clutch.
Did I misunderstand you? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

He only ran 112.7, but what is important is he gained nearly 10 mph from bolt ons and a cam. They dyno shows he gained nearly 100 rwhp, the track shows he picked up about 10 mph. Seems about right to me <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I went from 316.1 to 356.5 with a B1 cam MTI in my 2001 WS6 6sd.

My point was 420 RWHP does not equal 112.7
trap speeds.Does this seem odd to anyone else?

don't make sense. <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

Not a big deal. You just need to do some research regarding density altitude. That is why I posted the before and after MPH. The actual MPH is irrelevant unless you are running at the same density altitude.

Do you think 103mph is normal for a car with catback, MAF an ported TB??
