Default Autotap Question

Hey fellas, I just got my A-tap this afternoon and ran a few tests as far as lean/rich conditions go.. At idle, I saw most of the banks anywhere from .110 to.775. They seamed to fluctuate between this range.. At wot, they were all around 910 to 920 which is rich.. I am more worried about the idle portion.. Is this normal? I will post the exact numbers when I get off work..

Thanks, Sawacs

The O2's will fluctuate wildly at anything but WOT. .920 does sound a little rich but not too far off if you have an '01 or '02. My '01 runs in the .900 - .910 range at WOT whereas my '99 was in the .890 - .900 range. Both cars had/have just a Direct-flo lid.

Here are the readings I am getting....I started off in 2nd went through third and let off. I think I should have let it rap out in 3rd but I chickened out. Knock retard was 0 all the way across. Just seams like 2 banks are fluctuating a great deal compared to the other two..

FYI - You don't need to log the "S2" sensors (B1S2 and B2S2). Those are your post-cat O2 sensors. Their only job is to make sure the cats are working properly.

You're not getting many points per second from the logging (ie there's about 1,000 - 1,500 RPM's between logged data points in your sample). If you take off the B1S2 and B2S2 parameters, you will get more points of data in the same amount of time logged and might get a clearer picture of what's going on. It does seem like the O2's jump around more than they should.

Rom3, thanks for the reply.. I will try removing some of the sensors you suggested and giving it another run.. I a-tapped otw home yesterday and b1s1 and b2s1 were averaging around 775 or so and fluctuating like mad.. Gonna take it into the dealer tomorrow and have them check that out..

Thanks, Sawacs

He speaks the truth. You will basically be seeing random #'s from all the O2s at anything other than WOT. (The B1S2 and B2S2 are useless everywhere, because they do nothing, they are just there to make sure your cats are still working) It's because the car is constantly correcting to try to acheive a perfect A/F ratio (for emissions/mileage that is). At WOT, on B1S1 and B2S1, you will see high .800s to low .900s typically. .920 is BARELY rich, it's nothing to lose sleep over. If you were really worried, just buy a MAFT and get it down to .880-.890 or so.

No knock is good too. Don't bother with a dealer, there's nothing wrong with it
