What can I expect From this?
Hello,
My first post here. Anyways, I got some money comin back from taxes here in a few days, and i want a ram air 2 hood...but i got about $1200 left over. I was wondering, would it be ok, and what can i expect to gain....if I do a cam and a LS6 Manifold on my car with the mods I have?? Lets assume I have Long Tube headers and a cut out or loudmouth or something (got those covered too). What kind of HP should i see (I am concerned about not having the heads done). Should I wait and save up the money for the heads and do them all at once or can i do cam and manifold and be ok?
Also, Do i need anything else like MAF and ported ends if i do these things?
Thanks in advance.

Re: What can I expect From this?
99 Z28 with:
Lid + Holley Filter
Yank ST-3500
FTRA
Cam (B1 for example)
LS6 intake
Longtube headers
cutout
I'd estimate around 350-360 rwhp with your A4 car and these modifications. With the right launch on slicks and about 3500 lbs raceweight you should see high 11s no problem.

Re: What can I expect From this?
Very Sweet Tony. Thats what I wanted to hear. My goal inlife is a 11.5's or lower on motor, and it seems from what you said if i get my heads done i should be there (after these mods). Then i can spray my way to the 10's.
Question for the mods i was asking about....do i need a new maf or ported throttle body? Or do the heads dictate that? In other words, can i wait till i get the heads done to get a maf and tb or do i need them with the cam and maifold?

Re: What can I expect From this?
You can use the HPP3 to change your shift points (you will be shifting at 6500-6600 with a good cam). You can use a ported stock MAF and a MAF-T to adjust your air/fuel mixture, but the proper way to do this would be to purchase LS1-EDIT software (about $450) for your '99 car and handle things more accurately.
With LS1-EDIT, you can get rid of the HPP3 also.
11.50s with heads/cam/bolt-ons and A4/converter should be no problem if you can hook.

Re: What can I expect From this?
check out our Computer programming section for LS1-EDIT info. It just was made available.
MAF-Translator plugs in between the MAF and the harness going to it. It has two ***** to adjust, basically tricking the PCM into thinking the MAF is sending different info.
No, your car will not shift where it needs to with just a cam swap. The electronic controlled tranny needs to be told what to do.

Re: What can I expect From this?
Tony, Thanks again.
So this LS1-edit is a software program or something? Where can I get it? Also, where can I get a MAF-T (translator i assume)? It just plugs in and does its thing? Also, you mention shift points....if I change the cam without changing the shift points...the car waont shift where it needs too? I had a 85 Trans am with a nice cam in it, shifted about 6500...but there was no computer changing neded for that, there is now?
