Default Cam effect on idle speed

What will a 224/228 lsa114 do to the idle speed? Ultimately to the mpg? Will the addition of heads mean the need for higher idle speed and less mpg? Yes, I know if it stomped the mpg will drop but what about highway driving in od?

Idle speed is controlled by the VCM not the cam. Now, maybe you meant to say ' efficiency of the engine at idle with a larger cam? " Yes, less efficient and ergo a worse idle in terms of gas used, vacuum created and emissions produced.

If you didn't mean to type that, I highly suggest you start searching and reading and use this forum to increase your knowledge of the engine and it will help you as you travel down the path of modifying your engine.

I have a 224 228 on a 110 +2 800 rpm and just alittle gruppy. It will require a tune.

On a 114 LSA, there shouldn't be a ton of overlap at those durations. With a good tune, it should be able to idle well at near stock idle speed. As you said, your driving style will do more to hurt economy than that cam will. Highway economy should be about the same as stock.
