Which of these Parts/where to buy
what up guys, usually hang out at ls1.com but nobody their wants to answer this particular question so I decided to do some slumming. j/k anyway here are my questions. thanks in advance
Which timing chain/ oil pump to buy
Putting together a hotcam "kit" have the cam, just need the other stuff.
1)Got the springs and seats covered. Will the comp cams steel retainors work with the ls6 springs?
2)are valve keepers and valve spring seats the same thing?
3)Also want to upgrade my oil pump. The ARE number is pretty pricy, is the stock ls6 pump a good choice?
4)Also want to pickup a timing chain. The double roller sounds good, comp cams has a new one but I have heard it is not a true double roller??
Help is appreciated, this money is begging to be spent.

Re: Which of these Parts/where to buy
Maybe nobody on the other site answered your questions because they didn't know the answers?
1. Don't use the LS6 springs. Invest in some Comp 26918 springs, which use the stock retainers no problem. If you are going to upgrade springs, might as well get the better ones and do it right.
2. Valve keepers and spring seats are not the same thing. Valve keepers are the locks that fit into the top of the retainers that hold the valve stem groove. Spring seats sit underneath the valvesprings on the head surface.
3. Get a modified stock oil pump from one of our sponsors. ARE, Cartek, MTI, MMS, Thunder should all have them available. Basically they are ported slightly for better flow and the relief valve is shimmed so that they hold more pressure before bleeding off.
4. Stock timing chain is okay, and the only better upgrade is the C5-R timing chain which is about $140 I believe. Many, many cars are making over 500+ rwhp with the stock chain. I've only run stock chains on my setups.
Feel free to post your TECH questions on this site FIRST next time
