Default question about crank with an offset ground

i just learned these even existed today, so i dont know much about them

but i just had a few questions and thought this would be the best place to post it.

i found out about it at this link... http://members.fbody.com/phil99ta/LS1SIZE.xls

it has the stock crank at 3.62 and the stock crank with an offset ground at 3.71. wouldnt be much of a gain going from the 5.3L to that, but i will be swapping the crank/pushrods after i scrounge up the money in my 4.8 and thought this would be better. i might even have the only 5.48L ls1 style truck in the nation

do any of you guys know if you would have to get the engine balanced if you did this. or how much it would cost to do this to a crank? also is this safe to do to a crank?

thanks in advance for the help

I have an offset ground crank done and ready to go with the matching connecting rods, can't use the stock one's, you'll need custom pistons also I believe, I might sell the crank and rods, let me know if you're interested

well i dont have the money right now. whatever i end up doing will be a summer project though.

why would u need custom pistons if its he same bore though? is that just something you have to do when u get this done?
