"EXAUSTING" Conclusions!
I've got Long Tubes, offroad 3" Y and just changed from the 4" Mufflex to SLP20TL. The Mufflex sounded Prostock and very deep and boomy. VERY loud. So I swapped in the REFINED SLP20TL today and Damn I'm happy! It's about perfect unless you want a track only car. It has a great burble to it from idle - 2K and I can't hear it much at 3K going down the freeway. I can think and talk to people next to me.. I love this exaust with an offroad pipe. Absolutely NO rasp! And the Flowmaster resonated so bad I couldn't turn my stereo up loud enough. Also, it's actually pretty rumbly at idle when I open the door, but it stays outside the cab where it should.
It sounds awesome when you're on it too. You can hear both motor and exaust where as all you could hear was Flowmaster before. I can hear how strong the engine is running now.
And the best part of it, I can't tell ANY difference in performance! And I'm guessing it's 10lbs lighter. If you're looking for a high quality & stainless, well priced catback, with a classy (refined) sound (throaty), then this is your exaust. But I do think it sounds better with an offroad y-pipe, because it would be a little quiet for me otherwise.
Oh, and I connected the exaust at the end of the y-pipe and just before the axle with nice flanges so they can quickly/easily be removed for track use. Yeah baby.
Next on my list is Dual Electronic "McCord" Cutouts in the y-pipe. This is going to be one kickass street/strip exaust.
Only thing I don't like it the 2 tips only on the left. This would look OK on a Camaro, but it would look kind of out of place on a TA.
Let us know when you take it to the track.
Good choice Scott.. but I'll keep my Hooker.

The Hooker was my 2nd choice, but how can you argue my choice of catback, an excellent stainless one, for $150 with a cutout installed. And it's factory on the 96/97 SS's. And VERY few LS1's have it. It's a secret so don't tell anybody about it.
I Can't wait till the track opens in late April.

Maybe a road trip will take care of that though, now that I can drive on the freeway again!
Nice job Scott! The SLP 2OTL is one of the best sounding catbacks out there. My friend has it on his '94Z w/ hooker longtubes and ORP. I have yet to hear it on a LS1, but I can imagine it would sound real nice.

I have a single 3" in/out flowmaster welded on my stock exhaust with one 3" chrome slash tip on my 2000 formula, and a LH side only exhaust looks bitchin! I'm debating a cat-back system in the future (SLP 2OTL and hooker are leading the list), but saving for a new motor for the Nova.

The 2OTL only looks decent on Camaros in my opinion. One tip on a Pontiac, which has two bumper holes, looks goofy.

Hmmm... I disagree. I’ve only seen one pic of it on a T/A, but it looked great! I’ve got a 2OTL system on order that I’ll be installing next week to replace my FM catback (I’m also trying to get rid of ORP rasp).
Formulas and T/As bumper cutouts aren’t really shaped like tail pipes so it doesn’t look bad at all, IMO. But I like the fact that most don’t put it on T/As and Formulas as it’ll keep mine special
Dual/dual is too quiet for me, even with ORP, so 2OTL was a must! Plus, how can you beat $399 for full stainless steel and arguably the best flowing muffler catback?
Truth be told, I don’t really like twin opposite side tips on any of these cars too much, because the tips never line up strait and it looks crooked. It took me forever to get the tips on my FM catback to line up right. 2OTL makes that task real easy. To each his own though. If I ever find someone around me to post pics for me I’ll post them once I put the system on.

Quit testing exhaust and get on your Heads setup and get some cams tested with those StageII's. Remember you have to have everything perfected for me by the end of the year

HaHa... You better believe I will. 11's used to be my goal, and I've never run it yet, but I'm going straight for 10's.....and I won't quit till I get there. Even if I have to drive to HRP ("H"ardly "R"equires "P"ower) to get it done.
New Stage II Heads (not revealing secrets yet) and an MMS cam to come. Haven't determined the specs exactly, but the MMS229 is looking VERY good.

LOL ! Scott, my goal is only low 11's for now
I like the HRP saying ... very nice. With the tracks up here in Wester NY I'll probably never get my goal.
I think with the MMS229 cam and your Stage IIR heads or the II's will get you high 10's no prob. At that point it will be all about tuning, traction, and a damn good convereter.
I personally would love to get my goal with a little smaller cam - like the Hammer or something else in the 222/222 56x range.
I'm glad you got that exhaust to your satisfaction. I don't like a really loud exhaust either. I went out and got the Corsa on a GP but have not installed it yet - wiating for the weather to warm up.
Best Regards,
Mitch R.
