Default 408+stock heads=drivable???

i have about 108,000 on my car and am looking to spend about 4500 on my car this year.i run the car at the track about 3 times a month.the way it is now it shifts around 6600 and i'm alittle worried about the bottom end.my oil pressure hot has gone down from 40 psi 2 years ago to 25 at idle.so this brings me to my question,if i spent the 4500 on a forged bottom end(408)and reused the stock 98 heads would the car be tunable?i don't want to spend the money and have a car that runs like sh*t.i don't mind leaving power on the table if the car runs well.i was thinking about a 408 with a cam appropriate for the displacement.this would leave me a nice power gain later when i could afford a good set of heads.is this a viable option?if this would work what kind of power would you think it would make?if this won't work i'm just gonna do a set of nice heads on my stock shortblock and hope for the best.thanks in advance

I've heard of 408's with stock 6.0 heads that made 450+. The car would still make power with your 98 heads, but 6.0 heads and LS6 heads are so cheap these days, it would be a waste not to upgrade.

i'm not worried about how much power it would make with the 98 heads, just if the stock heads will cause a drivability or tuning issue on a 408 with a good size cam.if i could do heads at the same time i would, but i have a limited budget.thanks for the response

stock 243 heads are dirt cheap right now.a set of those on a 408 would be a low cost combo for 450/450 rwhp/rwtq .
