SES light came on... Need help figuring this one out...

SES light came on... Need help figuring this one out... I get a reoccuring SES code that says the following... "Crankshaft Position System Variation Not Learned, 1997, 2.2L, MFI, 4"
I have tried to clear the code, but it stays as a pending code, and immediately retriggers the SES light.
Does anyone know what this is? Could it be a bad Crank sensor?
Any help would be appreciated...
