Default how to mod an oil pump??

i thought i read a while back somewhere about adding a shim to the spring holding the relife valve in order to make it give more oil pressure.
does anyone know what thickness shim to add and if this is at all true???

On the old small block chevys we use to use a shim that was about 1/32" on the oil pump spring but I'm not sure on a LS1. I like to know where these vendors get the beefed up spring for the LS1 oil pump because I can deburr and polish the pump for better flow myself, it would give me something to do while the weather still sucks!
