Default WS6 lower air box

Is there any horsepower to gain with this mod. I have a stock T/A lower box now. i buying it from a friend for 45$ if its worth it. Is there some modification to the lower box to make it work with a stock hood?

just cut out the bottom of your stock airbox. and you will see more gains than you would with the WS6 airbox.

I would say buy it if you are only paying 45$. HP ? Maybe a couple, can't hurt.

I don't think the bigger box will fit under a stock hood.

Yes it will. It will fit under a flat Firebird hood; but no Camaro hood, not even the SS. You may have to clearance the very top/front of the airbox lid, and make a notch where each of the 4 bolts seat in the front; so that the whole assembly can be slid rearward about 1/2". The washer on each bolt will also need to be cut straight so it will allow the bolt to set in the notch.
I'll see if I can put up a picture of mine later.

I agree with Bad Habit, the gains aren't worth the money. Just do the free ram air mod to the lower box you have now and you'll get more power. I have them both and am thinking of going back to the free ram air set up. If you want it to look cool put a MTI clear air box lid on it instead.
