Question on LS6 heads ?

Question on LS6 heads ? On the LS6 head, the exhaust port is D shaped and the LS1 head is round. If you look at the header, it is round. Wouldn't it make sense to port the LS6 head so the exhaust port is round to match the header?
Re: Question on LS6 heads ? NO!!!!! The D shape is one of the things that make them flow so well.
And unless you have the experience, don't try to port these yourself. They already outflow LS1 heads by a substantial amount. Once ported, there is less advantage to them over LS1s.
Many are going with the truck heads now (LQ9s) over the LS6 since the runners are essentially the same, some say they are identical. The truck heads are said to actually outflow the 6's at mid-lift. Plus, cores can be bought for $400.
The truck heads have a cc that is 3-4cc larger for slightly less compression.
