how to find car by vin? how can you find a car by vin #. A friend is looking to buy really built up 99 SS and has the vin. tried carfax and nothing on owner, Pa dmv and they don't give that info.

Any tow service that impounds cars can get the name & address of the registered owner of any vehicle from the plates or the VIN -- they have to be able to notify the owner that their cars have been towed.
I'm just curious about how you have the VIN of this car you're looking for, but don't know where the car is. A little weird.
