Detonation Problem???

Detonation Problem??? Dynoed my cay yesterday and in 4th gear at WOT a
(**LOT**) of black smoke came out of the exhaust so it running extremely rich. I never noticed it at all until the guy ran it. Also he let off early and said he didn't want to run it again because it was detonating (whats that) so i know its probably running rich cause of the GMAF but is it detonating because of that also or for some other reason. What could it be ???

hand in hand. Fouled plugs,bad fuel
improper tune These will lead to pre det.
Try resetting PCM and changing fuel
check the easy stuff. A-tap will help
to sort through <img src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" border="0" alt="[judgement]" /> Try stock
MAF see if it goes away

Re: Detonation Problem??? Fuel was mentioned but i use 93 octane as far as plugs (mentioned also) there stock but i was told to try the NGK t55's so i'm gonna try that and putting the stck maf back on and see what happens.
