Damage valve guides?

Default Damage valve guides?

Has anyone ever had their valve guides damaged due to overeving? I just had a cam istalled and springs and now the car uses oil so bad it is undrivable. 1 qt, every 100 miles. They checked compression and was good then they checked valve seals and found 2 wore out valve guides. The car just barely has 14k miles and on top of that it is my wifes daily driver. I drive it about every 2-3 weekends for a little fun. I had a cam and headers installed to get a little boost out of it and now they say it was due to over reving and the increased valve lift. .561-.569. It happened right after the swap. I need some opinions and some advice. thanks DG

the upgraded parts will wear the valve train a little mjore but shoot, i dont think it from over revving.

unless there talking about retainer to seal contact.
then fault is in the person who set the spring pack up imho.

loks like you have damaged or worn valve stem seals.

How did they Find the bad guides. Does the valve move side to side in the guide w/o the spring on it? Sounds to me when installing the better srings the seals got hit or is hitting the spring when the spring is in motion. Lets hope. <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

They took the springs out and checked and said they were wore out. The cam has a .561 lift on the exhast side and that is where the damage is.

The cam is a custom grind from comp. 222/226 w-561/569 lift 114 ls. the springs are comp 918s.
