Yep, that's where I broke mine the last time out. I was having problems getting into 4th all night and was determined to make it go that pass...it went allright, into 2nd. Most likely turned the motor 8500 rpms or so with the stock valvetrain, car died and I coasted off the track. Then when I tried to start it it had very uneven cranking. So I got out to look for oil or any pieces of metal shrapnel underneath and everything appeared still intact, tried a couple more times and finaly got it started but it was making a lot of valvetrain noise and running real rough. Made it back home to Austin OK, but throwing missfire codes and can hear popping out the exhaust and it still runs rough. So it has been parked for the last several months waiting for some attention. I will be doing all the work myself, but have a shop in Kyle to get it dyno'd when that time comes. They also do a lot of work with TSP.

TTT anyone have anything else to add... either in favor of the 5.3's or 243's. I am off tomorrow so if TSP does not see this post by then I will call them and try to find out the answers to these nagging questions.

Still undecided on this head choice as are numerous others it seems (from other post I have seen asking a similar question). So I figured I would ressurect this thread in hopes of getting some input from someone at TSP. Also would like to hear from anyone else with any other input whether agreeing to or disputing those stated previously in this thread. Thanks

i think what it comes to is this
you take the 5.3l heads and the 243 castings mill both to get the dcr you want the 243 heads will have more ptv clearance with the same cc chambers.

now depending on the cam size, smaller cam would get the 5.3's and a bigger cam would get the 243's

btw what cam are you going with

Leaning towards a custom Comp cam with 228/234 LSK/XER .639/.598 110 +2. Just not sure who to order it through. May go through Thunder for the included Cam Pro read out.

TTT for Jon from TSP to add his comments. I would really like to here TSP's input on this debate since they should know more about these heads options than anyone else.
