Thunder 224lsa cam question
I got a question. I want to get the Thunder 224 cam, but I need to know what else I need to get with it. Do I need to get springs, retainers, pushrods..etc I goijng to get the pushrods regaurdless, because the stockers are weak. Anything else? Also my car is a 6-speed, so all I have to do is drill the TB plate, until I can get it tuned? Thanks for the help.

First nice screen name, it's original. You definitly need springs, pushrods, and retainers with that cam. Tunning is a must also. You can get buy with a maft but it still sucks. The more air you can get in the engine with that cam the better (i.e. LS6 intake, ported maf&tb). I found that 31* of timming is best but for N2O use 29*. 1BADWS6
If you get the complete kit, you are getting, the cam, springs, pushrods, water pump gaskets, valve cover gaskets, harmonic balancer bolt, front main seal, and titanium retainers are an option (I took that option). That's the most complete kit I have seen offered here, & a great $. Call up Thunder - Angie, Paul or Geoff & they will hook you up & explain any other options available. I'm waiting on the T retainers & this thing is going in. Good luck.
You'll need to get a crank pulley bolt, front seal, springs, pushrods, and possibly(depending on the springs) retainers. Thunder Racing will advise you when you call...they are very knowledgable. If the sales person isnt convincing enough, ask for "Jeff" (spelled Geoff)...he's the big tech guru there who came up with the cam in the first place.
You *dont* need water pump gaskets unless you have a 97 or 98 LS1, and you wont need valve cover gaskets either...they are seemingly infinitly reusable (had my valve covers off at least 20 times and I'm still on my stock gaskets, others may have had different experiences).
