purpose of spring seats?

purpose of spring seats? is there any real reason to pull the valve seals and change the spring seats that come with the ls6 valve springs? are they different than stock? if so, what is the difference? would it hurt anything to not change them?

Re: purpose of spring seats? The spring seats locate the spring so it doesnt walk around on head, and they keep spring from chewing up aluminum head.Check the fit of ls6 spring on ls1 seat, if it registers well you can use it.
