This will be a long post so please be patient and read fully. Also, please do not flame me, I have asked this before and never got a good answer. I have searched the previous posts and FAQ.
I have 35,000 miles on my TA. It was a lease car and Im sure hasnt had plugs put in. I am ready to change em but Im waiting on my MSD wires to be delivered.
I bought Rapid fire #12 (stock heat range for my TA, #8 are 1 step colder). I returned them when a mechanic told me not to use in my TA. He said they are shorter in the electrode then the stock AC Delco platinum. I exchanged them for AC Delco 41-952 platinums. I also picked up a set of NGK TR55's.
My question is which should I use. ALL mechanics I talk to said to use the OEM plugs. Platinum lasts longer, and they say that the longer electrode will perform better. 1 mechanic said the individual coil system our car uses burns the plugs hotter and whould wear out the copper plugs faster, thats why they OEM uses platinums.
Now, after alot of research, it seems that you guys claim that the stock are no good, a few WOT and the platinum may come off. I also read that copper will extract heat better. But what about the ceramic electrode and tip being 1/16" shorter seated in the block in the NGK's or rapid fires as opposed to stock?
The main thing I want to know is which plugs to go with????
I dont want someone to say, well everyone uses TR55 so you should too.
I want REASONS PLEASE.........
Any good feedback will be helpful.....
My wires are coming tomarrow so please reply....

You're making this waaaayyyyyyyyy to hard brother. Use the TR55 gapped @ .050 and you'll have a smoother idle and better running car. Change every 25,000 miles or 3 years.
You listed most of the reasons to use them already. Best mod for the buck besides the FRA mod.
Good luck!

Don't sweat it. I've used AC 41-952, AC Rapidfire 12, NGK TR-55, NGK-TR6, and Bosch Platinums. They all performed great. I really liked the AC #12. I'm now running N2O, so my choices are pretty limited. I think the underlying theme with new plugs and a better running engine is consistant gapping.
