Default Green color in the oil

I checked the oil today, and it has green in it, not golden brown like oil with a few 100 miles on it should have. Is it justifiable to pull the heads and see if i have a blown head gasket? I think so.... what do you guys think? how else is coolant getting in to the oil, the car drank about 1/4-1/2 gallon in 30 miles maybe, I did a compression check 205+ PSI in each clyinder.

Does your car not use Dexcool (orange-red colored coolant)?

this is my friends car, he had the engine installed by a professional, and the coolant is green? I asked myself that question too. yes the coolant is green BTW, I have been adding orange dexcool, and water.... but its still greenish I havent done a full flush i guess thats why. but indeed the oil is green and it matches whats in the radiator pretty much. I know oil isnt suppose to look like this.....

You're going to know if it's coolant or not; water and oil don't mix. FWIW, I've seen some oils with varying colors. Also, he should be using Dexcool if it's an LS1. I've heard that mixing the Dexcool w/ glycol (green coolant) will create a sludge, of sort. I would recommend doing a complete flush and putting in 1/2 and 1/2 Dexcool and water.

Well, Dexcool isn't an LS1 requirement, just GM's latest for all the cars. Trevor is right though, don't mix the orange stuff and the green stuff.

Hey guys green antifreeze and Dexcool mixed will turn to a jello like consistencey! It will do major damage to the cooling system ie the engine! I had a guy mix these two after a radiator swap to his personal pickup and KABLAM!! He popped the engine!

So your saying the oil hasn't been changed since it was installed? It could be assembly lube that your seeing in the oil, could also be engine oil leak detection dye. Dexcool won't show up in engine oil as much as Green antifreeze does. Dexcool and oil mixed will make hydraulic lifters stick and clatter until warmed up also FYI
If there's coolant in the oil it will migrate to the bottom of the oil pan, so let it sit overnight then change the oil in the morning. If there is a problem you will see water come out of the drain hole before the oil starts coming out.

careful there, I think GM specifically advises Dexcool only. I don't know about others, but I'd heed that advice.
