*need help* engine not running after head/cam install
You monitoring this stuff on Autatap or TechII?
I would not even got WOT NA with your car until you fix it, that would be nuts. I would for sure not spray it.
But, giving it a valid cam signal results in no start.....
Dot to Dot should be TDC cylinder 1, start of the firing order. Number 6 is 4 cylinder firings away, exactly 180° cam degrees from cyl 1
Where is this cam from???
is there more than 1 key for the cam sprocket? What chain/sprocket set are you running?
It's not the crank sensor, since it runs in default mode w/ the cam sensor unplugged.
I say swap the cam sensor and try it again
The flip/flop of cylinders is correct operation for a missing cam sensor. Looks for one half of the cycle, then the other until it fires.

The cam is from GTP-racing.
I have the cloyes timing chain set.
There´s only one key and looks like the stock position.
Bevore I buy a new sensor:
What´s up with the compression??
Why do I have compression on Nr6 when timing gears are lined up and not on Nr. 1??
Can I change that somehow??
Or doesn´t that show me the cam is 180° off??
When I have no compression on Nr1 when the timing gears are lined up, but the computer gives the spark (as it should, or not?) then the engine will not start also. Right??

take off the timing chain, rotate the cam gear to position 12, then reinstall chain.
then turn crank until timing gears line up again.
Then the Nr.1 Zylinder should have compression.
After that the engine should run with the cam position sensor installe as the timing was off 180° by the cam install.
Does that sound possible??
Here´s what I think, but I may be wrong:
This is how I have it now:
I have the cam gear on 6 and the crankgear on 12 (lined up)....that´s when i
have compression an #6 instead of #1 (as it should be).
When I now rotate the camgear to 12 (without the chain on) then I have
compression
on #1, right?
Now if I put the chain back on then, and rotate the crank so the gears line up
again, then I
again have compression on #6!!!
That´s the same like I had bevore!!??
The only thing I did is not rotate the crank a whole turn.
So why should that turn the timing 180°??
It doesn´t????
I still have compression on Nr. 6(like I shoulc not) when timing gears are lined up.
I´m so confused!!

The cam position sensor is behind the intake manifold and is like a $40 part. Super easy to change on a C5...
When you installed the cam was #1 at TDC?
Out of curiousity, which GTP cam and what length pushrods are you running, 7.350's?
I think I´m the prowd owner of one of the seldome out of phase
cams on the world.
First let me say:
The stock cam has the cam timing gear on 12:00 position when the #1 Cylinder is in firing position.
Nost of you told me the timing gear should be in 6:00 then (lined up with crank timin gear) , but that it is NOT!!!
You can get a word file with pics from me that shows that Nr. 1 fires when cam timing gear is in 12:00!!!!!!!!!!! position.
2) I compared the stock cam with the custom cam and only one thing is not
fitting..............the reluctor wheel grind!!!!!!!!!!!!
You will see that also on my word file...again let me know, if you wanna see
and I´ll email you.
So the cam is out of phase 180°!!!!!
No wonder my engine always had the fire on the wrong cylinder bank.
NO PCM wrong
NO wire wrong
No sensor wrong
No false install
NO NOTHING!!!!
Just a wrong reluctor wheel grind!!!!
That declares why the cam pos sensor always turns the firing 180° whenever
I plugged it in again.
As the cam told him to fire wrong!!!!!
In hope I get the new cam the next days via UPS express.
I´m kind of upset!!
PHEW, at least I know I made no error.
Thanks a lot to all of you trying to help me out.
I hope the cam really is it and I will have a fast car soon.
1st race should have been next week, need to be race ready, need to win!!!

So i was right about being on #6 cylinder when marks are dot to dot, just like on old Gen 1 small blocks!

YES´you were right, that`s for sure now.
Checked that at the stock cam.
Got that info from Julio@Cartek, also!!!!
Service manulal says Nr1!!! That´s confusing, but it IS Nr. 6!!!! 100% SURE!!
