need help with a PR length checker

Default need help with a PR length checker

i put the PR checker in the PR hole. i torque the rocker to 22ftibs. i cant really get my finger in there to turn the PR length checker. when i can reach it with my fingers the whole thing turns. any tips/tricks??? thanks pat

First, you don't need to torque to 22. Just snug the rocker, as long as it is seated. Further tightening only preloads the bolt. This will make it quicker to remove the rocker, turn the pushrod and then re-install. Do about 1/2 turn at a time until you are close.

as vettenuts said. your supposed to just snug (zero lash) the rocker bolt. anything after that is pushing the lifter valve into preload. you want to find the right length w/o the preload, then just add the desired preload . i.e. .080"- .100" is pretty typical. but differs with diff. lifters ofcourse.

correct. i will mark the checker with a paint marker on both sides so you can make sure the pushrod checker doesn't change lengths or spin on you, as you rotate it thru the lift cycles.

thanks for the tips guys, ill give it another go tomorrow. i just finished torquing down my heads. now it time to watch the PATS. GO PATS!!!

I was watching them, got nervous and left to check the forum's. My wife is so nervous she is about to Although she isn't swearing yet, so that's a good thing
