Oil Pressure ?
Oil Pressure ? So im on my way to work, get into a Little Sprint with a Audi TT. So about 10 mins later the 290 is backed up so i get off at manheim and start taking streets to work.
I pull into Mc donalds to get a Bite and I hear ticking, So i scroll through the DIc and Check oil Pressue 23psi so i give it gas it goes up.
The ticking goes away and then comes back.
So i check temps water 218, oil 228,trans 228?
So i keep watchin the oil press guage and it is about 23-25 at idle in gear. SO i pull it in the shop let it cool down a little and check the oil, Perfect Its full. Start her up and she goes 3,6,8,13,14,20,22,24,27,30,35,30 and stays at 30 psi all that was over about 8 seconds.
Is this normal, I have her cooling down i wanna see what she is when she starts. and ive never heard the Ticking before today.

Re: Oil Pressure ? What weight oil is in there J? With about 48K miles on my SS, My pressure runs about 35 at hot idle with 5w30 Royal Purple. That's with an ARE pump too. You definitely want to throw a new t-stat on there. Stock is probably 195 on the C5s too and I went to a 180. Used to see 225+ idling in traffic. Now it rarely gets above 200 even in the summer. I always run 6 quarts of oil instead of 5.5.
Like I said Sunday, I had some warning with both my oil pumps but I don't think everyone has.
