Default Need help ASAP*big problem*

Tonight, I was coming home from work. Got on it pulling out of parking lot. Spun real bad and hit the rev limiter a couple of times. Right after that the engine started kind of like sputtering. Then 30 seconds later, you could start hearing pinging and rattling inside the motor. I shut it off immediatly and started it back up for a second to see if it would do it again. and ofcourse it did. I did notice that the car was smoking also. I think I just blew my motor. PLEASE tell me I'm wrong. What do you think it could be???
Thanks.

Pushrod or Valve spring. Do you have a bigger cam in it?

Sorry to hear that man.

Lets just hope you only bent some pushrods. That would be the cheap and easy thing to fix.

Rev limiter BAD for stock LS1. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Did you raise your rev limiter?

Blinking SES lite?

I think you might have bent pushrods, maybe some valves.

Car sound like it's camming now?

My SES light stays on now because of LS6 intake w/o EGR. Yep car sounds like its camming now.
Will I have to do a complete rebuild or just replace whats broken?

Usually folks bend valves after a major misshift, like 2nd into 1st.

Might just have some bent pushrods.

Raised rev limit on a stock valvetrain and you weren't expecting this? Luckily you probably just got away with some bent pushrods, which is a very easy and cheap fix.

Bryan, if it is a valve or spring then you will have to probably pull the heads only. While youre there I would recommend installing stronger springs and pushrods.

I don't know if anyone will believe this, but I had a mechanic check it out. He pulled the valve covers off. He said the pushrods, valve springs, and valves all looked good. He did a compression check and that was good. He put it back together and it has ran fine ever since then. I still think there is something wrong with it though.

I had a freind do the same exact thing... he pulled the valve covers and the number 3 cylinder pushrod(intake side) was bent into an L .... it was messed up pretty bad.... that is probably all your problem is..... not hard to change.... ENJOY..... and while your at it add some 1.8 Rockers and some hardened pushrods..... will last longer that way!!

Since I think there is still something wrong with the engine, I'm going to upgrade the valvetrain and install a cam. Probably the TR-224 cam. I just wanted to know if I needed to change my lifters too. I don't want to cut any corners. If there is any chance I need to, I'm going to change them.
