Default Will hitting the Rev Limiter.....

Will hitting the Rev Limiter while the car is not under load bend pushrods? I missed second gear last night but still dumped the clutch and floored it for half a second and bounced the limiter. It happened again when 4th didn't engage. I never got it into gear, and just momentarily hit the limiter. When you bend a pushrod it is obvious correct? A loud ticking noise presents itself?
Last night I went to a party filled with "Import Enthusiasts". I proceeded to take them all for some full throttle accels and some cornering prowess. 4 seperate trips, I have video of the post ride enthusiasm these guys had, they all had to change their shorts. They couldn't stop talking about how fast the car was all night. one guy actually went online to price out some Z28's and wants to trade in his truck. They were all in shock. It goes to show that people generally just do not understand how fast these cars really are. Anyway thanks on the rev limiter info.

Sure you can. But, I have bounced off the limiter several (read many many times) and have not bent one to my knowledge. However, some people do bend them like you did.

If you don't have any knock retard or an obvious miss or ticking sound, you are probably ok. They are easy to check and I am going to be doing a writeup on this very soon (be done by this friday hopefully). I think someone else has already completed a writeup but I am not sure where that is.

In the mean time, don't stress it. I drove 100 miles or more to my house at 80 mph with 8 bent intake valves adn 16 bent pushrods after I missed a shift. Probably not a cool thing to do but I did and everything survived and those pushrods were severly bent.
