Default Copper HeadGasket

Iam going to be installing a blower ans some port and polished blown heads on my LS1. I was given copper head gaskets to be installed but Iam having doubts to wether I should install them or not. When I read the gasket instructions they say to use an O-ring. My local mechanic says that he would install the head gaskets but he says not to blame him if the gasket blows.

Iam having doubts to wether or not to use these gaskets. I called the person back that I bought the gaskets from and he says hes used them b4 without a problem. He also says that the copper gasket seal allot better and will be stronger.

Iam not sure whos advise to take? My mechanic or the person I bought the heads and blower from? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

They are stronger gaskets for sealing, you would get the best seal by o-ringing block and cutting receiver groove in heads. You should ask head shop if gaskets will work ok w/out o-ring. Also use aftermarket (non stretch type) studs or bolts.
If your porter has no definitive answer i would call ARE or Cartek about no oring usage. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

My performance center that ported the heads and sold me the gaskets say that they've used the copper headgaskets but the instructions the headgaskets brings ask for an O ring? Iam not sure wether to use them or buy another set and return the copper ones

To use copper you need to have a machine shop O-Ring I think.. then you insert a wire ring of a certain height, .010" ? that you press the gasket onto.

Have read other things about aluminum to copper issues or something, maybe re:coolant?
