Default Floating valves????

Some guy was telling me this: ...if you put an aftermarket exhaust on that LS1 of yours, you'll float a valve and it'll be all over...

So what do you guys think? As far as I'm concerned that's <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> ...even tho I do have the stock head setup on my WS6.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I concur with the BS part. I fail to see how ANY exhaust system could cause valve float. I've always heard valve float described as when the springs and valve train react to slowly to a change in RPM allowing both intake and exhaust valves to be open some what at the same point in time.

So, as I said before. . .I doubt ANY exhaust modification could cause valve float, and I KNOW that no cat back could.

You can burn (not float) exhaust valves by running an engine without any exhaust whatsoever (meaning not even manifolds/headers), but not with a catback. No way, no how, never will happen.
