Nitrous motor build up?
Im gonna shoot for 600hp at the most.
My question is what pistons should I get?
What rings?
Should I upgrade the bearings?
Should I keep the stock rods or should I upgrade them?
What else should I upgrade in the motor?
Thanks
ALbert
Total Seal TS1 gapless rings (they make a set for the LS1).
I would upgrade rods for longevities sake. No biggie, but you will have the motor apart. Eagle, Callies, etc. all make nice rods. I would get a 6.125" rod as it will rev easier. Since you are getting custom piston, you can get the rod you want. I think the forged I-Beam rods are the hot ticket.
GM bearings are fine. I think others have used Clevite.
The oil pump can be upgraded at the time as well. Shops have they're 'ported' versions out there. basically, you just dont want any resitance in the mechanism. that makes it stick and eventually not pump up pressure. thats bad.
I believe GM now makes a metal head gasket (one PN, buy two, one for each side), but that may be limited to the 6.0L heads, since i think thats what the gasket is used for from the factory. If youre worried about popping a head gasket, this could help.
Are you also asking about heads/cam? do a search in internal engine (the search is finda fudged right now) if you can and look for cam specs or N2O cam specs. you can get some info there.
