Retainer/Keeper Question
Is it necessary to install titanium retainers on the Thunder 220 & 224 (114)?
Would the stock steel retainers & keepers cause problems?
Should the stock steel retainers be replace with higher quality steel retainers & new keepers?
Do the Comp 26918 Springs come with retainers & keepers?
Is this just good practice & cheap insurance?
Thank for your input.

Thunder Racing has the GP going:
*Thunder Racing custom grind camshaft(220 & 224)
*Comp 26918 Springs
*Comp Cams Pushrods (7.400 stock length)
$609
Same as above but add Comp 772 Titanium Retainers
$739

Re: Retainer/Keeper Question
No springs from Comp dont come with keepers retainers,i am not using titanium retainers and i'll tell you why, LS1 has very small and lite weight retainers, For the rpm were spinning and the spring pressure we are using they would be overkill, great if you have the money but not mandatory. The stock parts are durable enough for ZO6 and its factory set redline so they are good enough for me also.

Remember, the steel stock retainers may be good enough for the Z06, but the lobes on that cam aren't as aggressive as the Thunder lobes. Also remember, this is coming from a guy who is using titanium valves, super 7 titanium locks and pro stock titanium retainers... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Sometimes it's not about need, just want...

This new cam speaks highly for stock retainers and keepers.

I'm not trying to be a cheap-azz and not buy retainers & keepers- but if the stock stuff will work with no problems, why switch them.

Re: Retainer/Keeper Question
The keepers are perfectly fine. As for the retainers, I wouldnt replace them. Why do you think Comp says you can use the stock ones? It will work fine.
