If all you want is a rough idle unplug a sparkplug wire and save yourself some money.

A 224/228 cam or something close would be good for just a little lope and a good bit of power.

Anything with some positive overlap @.05 and a low idle speed.

You could always get a GM Hotcam and not have to worry about changing valvesprings every so often...

Yes. There are a few sponsors that will mail order tune for you. I think Texas Speed is one, not sure of the others. Someone will chime in with some names. There are also plenty of non-sponsors on the board who will do it for you as well.

What about your stall?? You also have 373's. Consideration should be given to that as well. 228/232 is a decent size cam, you will need a tune and to match your stall. I dont know a thing about stalls but I know you need to match them to your cam. The tuner will need that info as well.

a 228/232 cam in an auto with 373 gears. Seems like as soon as you hit your power band you could be topping out or running in the hi rpms all the time at highway speeds but I have no clue about stalls and auto's so someone correct me here.

i would like to stay away from using a stall, all i am looking for is just a rough idle cam , car currently has a 750hp Big Block in it with a turbo 400 with a 3500 stall, i am just getting where i can drive it , instead of paying 6.00 a gallon for gas

Rough idle means overlap, overlap means higher idle, higher idle will pull on the brakes and make it a pain to handle.

There are cams that can have a little chop chop with bullet muffs like a TR224 112. That one might be bearable on stock stall.

camaromotorsports, We are doing the identical build... Yanking out a radical big block from a 68 Camaro and putting in a LS1 and 4L60E to make it driveable...

The cam Im going with is very mild but my tuner says it will rumble nice and work well with the auto trans. To me going from the car I had to what it will be when the LS1 is in it will make it such a better car for running around town.

Heres the parts Im going with:
Ron Davis radiator
220/220 with a 116 LSA and a .581 lift Cam
Dart 205 heads with beehive springs
Chromoly pushrods
LS6 ported oil pump
Hooker Super Comp LS1 engine swap headers for first gens.
3.73 gears in the rear 12 Bolt
New timing chain and sprocket
New torque converter with a bit more stall

I'll have to PM you when my build is done to let you know how it goes, should be done in 6 weeks or so...

Honestly I'm thinking the hot cam or a 224 with 112 might be one of the best cams you can get being you are doing it mostly for some grumble.
