Need Hours Estimate help for engine work
Hey y'all.
Having some engine work done on a crate engine with the engine OUT OF THE CAR. No labor spent removing/installing the engine yet.
Heads come off.
Old gasket cleaned off, new gasket installed.
New Pushrods installed.
New valvesprings installed.
New Cam installed.
Preload measured with Dial Indicator.
Drilling crank with jig for pins. 2 holes drilled 180* opposite. No need to drop rack & pinion.
With this work being done out of the car, how many hours of labor for an experienced LS1 mechanic would be fair?
Thx!

I think 4 hours would be about right. But a lot of that stuff is pretty simple and you might want to give it a try yourself. Changing valvesprings is really easy with the heads removed.
Thx. If I had a garage and tools I'd take a shot at some of it. I do give a hand a get to watch and learn.
Also need to swap gears & timing chain after the cam goes in. 4 hours sounds about right.
Thanks!
