Default Cam Change/Running Hot?

Hey fellas, just swapped a Hot Cam yesterday into a '98 Z28 and noticed the guage reading real hot. Before the swap, he says the temp gauge was always runing low (160 or so). We ran it for awhile, drove it for even longer, no problems. I haven't had a chance to stick it on AutoTap yet, but I was just wondering if anybody had any similar experiences. No other changes were made. Thanks for your help.

Did you get all the air out of the coolant system?

We let it run for awhile with the cap off while it was sitting in the driveway. Should we do this repeatedly?

You need to keep squeezing the upper radiator hose to help purge out the air. Its the hose the goes all the way across in behind the radiator..the big one.

I had the same problem at first. I opened up the TB coolant hose on the right hand side. I pulled it off the block side while the car was running. That helped get most the air out too.

I had same problem, purge air pockets and keep overflow bottle on full line, system will pull fluid in to radiator as it cools, with cap on and sealed. I also noticed when doing idle relearn, motor will ping after that until it relearns all of best settings, so it would be a good idea not to beat on car for a while after pulling PCM BAT fuse.
