torque plate for ls1 hone

torque plate for ls1 hone I cannot find ANYONE in Atlanta that has a torque plate to hone my ls1 for new forged pistons. Does anyone know where to get one? I'm going to try bhj when they open today. This is very frustrating to be waiting on something like this.

Re: torque plate for ls1 hone Ls1 design makes the torque plate much less necessary for round upper bore area,i dont have specifics but i wouldnt mind LS1 Pro engine builder chiming in on this one, to give us details.

Katech is doing my hone and rotating assembly balance, they specifically stated it will be done w/ the plate and mains in the block. I think i would trust the shop that puts together the C5R motors <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: torque plate for ls1 hone I always thought that a torque plate wasn't required since the head bolts extend way into the block and do not pull on the cylinders as much as they used to on the old SBC's. On most engines, the head bolts would pull directly on the deck of the block thus distorting the tops of the cylinder. Torque plates simulate bolting heads on when doing machine work so that the cylinders are machined as if the engine was assembled.
I don't see it being a necessity when only honing an engine, now boring the block with a torque plate may have more benefits.
