Default Stock Pistons coated in '02??

Anyone know how to tell if you have a newer piston/ring setup on a GM crate engine?

Is just the skirt coated, or the top too? Anyone know how to read GM piston markings?

That is a great article, makes me feel a little better about the cold start piston slap on my '02.

I'm wondering if that Black 2002 piston is a marketing photo tho.. I'm wondering if the real ones are only coated on the skirts..

Has anyone personally seen a coated piston 1st hand on an '02 yet?

My new crate engine pistons have some strange markings. Is there any way to read my piston or engine markings?
