Octane Booster?

Octane Booster? What would be the best and most cost effective octane booster? Ive herd of a few diffrent ways of increasing octane. I can get the regular 104+ Octane booster, NOS Octane Booster, ect.. at pep boys. But wich would by the best? And they are all pretty expensive.
Ive also herd about using Xylene, but Iam not too familiar with this. Is this the same Xylene you can get at Home Depot as a Paint Thiner? If it is this would be a very cost effective way to raise your octane. A gallon of Xylene paint thiner is no more than 5 dollars. But is it Safe?
Any comments or info would be great.

There was a review a while back (can't remember where) that showed a test of these. Amsoil came out on top with NOS off-road a close second. Both of these showed to increase octane by about .4 to .6 (thats right, those "points" you see advertised are not whole numbers!)
