gm cams?

gm cams? hold your fire!! my friend just installed a gm hot cam and ported heads, but with no programing, on his 99 TA. i got a chance to ride in it. it sounds mean at idle however this car won't out run a city bus, a city bus being a Z06. i was wondering if a program could make a huge difference or if the cam is weak?

Im not totally sure, but the GM "HOT" cam is suspected to be the LT4 cam. Either way, I know it is a great cam. Actually you can use that cam in many engines. Ive even seen it in a 305, 327, 383,etc. Assuming the heads were ported correctly. It should make a noticable difference.
Custom Programing will always help. But the problem with custom "software" is that if you do that now, any later mods will throw it off. I highly recommend getting a custom burning LAST.
It seems to me that is generally the last thing people do as a mod. I rescently got a 383 LT4 longblock. I could get custom tuning now, and it would run alot better. However I have plans for future forced induction and other upgrades. So if I did the tuning now. I would have to have my PCU reprogramed all over again for ultimale performance.
Unless you like spening $500 every so often on that custom tuning. In which case, can I have some of your extra money? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
