Got 500Rwhp from a street cam
Hey now that I got you attention sorry to mislead you guys but I am kinda new to the cam thing I have been a GM guy for a while but to a little side trip into Import turbo tuning. Anyways back to the question at hand sorry if this seems ignorant I was wondering
What is be best in you opinion street cam, trying to keep some what of a good gas milage round 15 or so.
I am pretty sure I dont have to change heads but do I have to go with headers or a new intake manni?
How hard is it to install a new cam shaft how much do you guys pay to get one installed, any one know some one good around the D.C. metro area or any one wanna help a poor airman out hehe?
well thanx for the help guys

Jason at fbody central does cams. and he;s a great guy. done plenty of work on my car give em a ring (410)551-9172. he's in severna park MD but worth the drive.
500 rwhp on stock heads? HELL NO! To reach your goal of N/A 500 rwhp through a 12-bolt (as a 10 bolt would be pointless) you're gonna need a big cube motor (ie 422 or larger) and a really big cam. You'll also need a serious set of Stage 3 LS6 heads to mount to the block. I haven't seen a non-power adder set up yet that puts out 500 rwhp.
Now if you could deal with 400 rwhp, then it is possible with stock heads and a decent came, such at the TR 230/224 111 LSA that was recently tested. Those in my opinion are more realistic goals.

Installing a cam in these cars in not very difficult. Looking at the motor might scare the average mechanic but its not a hard motor to work on at all. Installing a cam is a one day job if that. As far as cam selection, the 230/224 that Thunder Racing just installed pulls great horsepower(I just ordered one myself). But, this cam has a ruff idle and probably won't pass emisions (check out all the posts on it). Or maybe try a 224\224 with a 114lsa, this is a well powered cam with a good idle from what i hear. Maybe visit some of this sites sponsers and see what kind off selection they have to suit your needs. ps. ls1speed.com
