Default Oil Pan Gasket

Do you have to totally remove the pan to change the gasket or can you just drop it a couple inches?
I swapped the oil pump and the pan has a leak at the rear.

Remove

1) Dropping it a few wont clear the oil pickup
2) If I'm not mistaken, the stock gasket is riveted on in two place...

Maybe someone know of a way to do it, don't know.

Sorry, but I don't know how you could change it. You really shouldn't have to though. If you get the front and rear covers aligned properly to the pan AND put a dab of silicone at each corner (where the three joints come together) you should be ok.

Let me know if you need a more detailed description or some pics.

Thanks for the replies. I think I may be OK. After power washing the underside, there hasn't been any new drops. Maybe it was just during that initial start up.
