Default oil in the intake...wtf??

I removed the intake and heads on my 02 tonight and saw a fair amount of oil in the intake. I didn't think there was supposed to be a pcv problem on the 02's, or could this be blow by from the rings? The car only has 1900 miles on it and i'm putting on new heads and would like to get this fixed before installation. Thanks.

Oil in the intake would be a PCV problem. The PCV system routes crankcase vapors into the intake to be burned. Unfortunately, you are getting more than vapors in the system...

What solves this then? I've had people tell me to go with a new pcv valve and others tell me there is a washer that I can put in there that will fix the problem. Thanks.

Our PCV systems all suck. On my new motor, I had MTI plug my intake openings and just put breather filters on the PCV hoses. I pulled my last motor apart at 2K miles and the intake and head ports had oil all over them! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

Damn PCV crap!

You want a cheap easy way to eliminate the PVC problem?
Use your AIR pump to vent the crankcase. Use a breather on one of the valve covers. NO oil in the intake. Been running this on my car for about 1.5 years now. No problems. Have it on the wifes car now for about 1 month. Very simple to do.

Outlaw, last year I installed a GReddy catchcan in my PCV line and it has all but eliminated the oil in the intake problem. The nice thing about this method is that it doesn't create any resctriction in the line.

If you're interested I can email you some pics, etc. Here's a link to one installed on a ricer: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/i...dycatchcan.htm
