So. What is the MOST # of times...
I'm going on #3 (not counting original fab), and I've never had head gasket problems (new head bolts every time), but I'm wondering just how much pressure those torque-to-yield threads can take down there in the bottom of the block?
I'm not sure I was understood. Like I posted, I use new bolts *every* time.
Even w/ stronger aftermarket bolts, there would still be weakness in the threads at the bottom of the block. Just wondering if anybody'd stripped out their block.
To tell you the truth I'm not sure you will find your answer here. I don't know of anyone that would ever use the stock bolts again, ever.

FWIW: There was an article in one of the car mag's about a Mallet Corvette that blew a head gasket during a magazine test. The tuner admitted to reusing the same stock head bolts again. In fact the tuner and reused the same stock head bolts for around 7-8 (or more) head install/removales. I though this was pretty lame and the tuner deserved to have the car blow up taking that type of short cut.

Maybe it's time to think about using studs on the block if your thinking about doing a lot more head changes?
