Okay last week i found a couple bent intank valves. I already have a huge thread going to i thought id make a new one for this one question. What measurment is needed to find out if my heads were milled? They are supposed to be a non milled ls6 head. I have the heads at my machine shop and they are telling me that they looked milled. I need to make sure before i bolt them on again because i just put a big cam in. 238/242 .600/.612 on a 114+4.

Your shop not very smart are they. Measure the chamber, every 1 cc = .005 mill (if flat). Ported LS6 chamber should be close to 64cc.
BTW all ported heads are cleaned mill.

 

No the machine shop is great. I just have not asked them to measure that. The reason
it looks milled is because the deck surface of the head is not smooth at all. It wasnt smooth enough for the cometic head gaskets im using. So they had mentioned that could be a sign of a milled head. Better safe that sorry.

 

Unless you have scratches on them just spray copper spray on the Cometics (both sides and follow the trq sequence and specs)

Call me monday & we can talk it over. MAKE SURE THEY DONT VALVE JOB THAT HEAD! I can't tell you how many times I talk to people who let machine shops with no experience with out port change the valvejob. That's the quickest way to kill flow & power. I can tell you exactly how to measure them & check how much they've been decked
