How do you remove Titanium Retainers????

Default How do you remove Titanium Retainers????

Well i broke a valve spring. So i got the valve cover off and the rocker. But the broken 918 spring can not go anywhere because i do not know how to get the dam retainer off. Please help

You have to use a valve spring compressor. If you are doing this on the car, make sure that cylinder is at tdc or you will drop the valve. Or, you can just pressurize the cylinder with a compressor through the spark plug hole.

Ok i am a beginner at this stuff. The valve spring is broken so there is no pressor on the retainer. How do you get it to Top dead center. How do you get the Titanium retainer off????

How do you get the Titanium retainer off????</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">dude, pull the rocker arm off, then push down on the retainer, two little keepers should come out then just take the retainer off. of the sping is putting pressure upwards you will need to compress it. also the valve will fall down too so, you will need to pressurize the cylinder with air, sears has a kit for this. also take the rocker arms off both the intake and exhauts of that cylinder.

Actually, I did see another report, but it turned out it wasn't a 918 spring, but a 941.

What cam are you running, just curious.

Crap .I also don't want to see 918 spring problems.Did you heat cycle the springs at all .I cycled mine twice..ran them up to 2500 rpm or so and then let them cool down for hour or so.I also let the car warm up before standing on it.hope this doesn't become a problem.If it does well plan on new heads next year so will just get dual springs instead of swapping my 918 over to the new heads.
